H.E.R.O.E.S. Summer Camp 2010

Faith UMC H.E.R.O.E.S. Camp, open to children ages 3-14, offers a wonderful mix of recreational, educational, spiritual and outreach activities. The 8-week camp runs in weeklong themed sessions from June 7-July 30, 2010 (with a non-consecutive two-week minimum). Children must be potty-trained and 3 years old by June 1, 2010.

All activities are held on-site at Faith United Methodist Church, located at 6340 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL, 33437. The camp’s extensive offering of activities include drama, dance, tennis, habitat lessons, bible time, weekly mission, petting zoo, hayrides, waterslides, cooking and much, much more!


Preschool-age campers/campers entering kindergarten are led by preschool and kindergarten teachers. Counselors leading all other all groups are trained to work with youth in the service of Jesus Christ.

Special Attractions


Once or twice a week we have events that may include water day, petting zoo, hay riding, karaoke, French lessons, chess, checkers, dance, soccer, hockey, kickball and tennis. Additionally, we have a variety of special attractions during the summer, including a water slide, bounce house, team play, habitat lessons, Friday hot dog day lunch, fire truck, Olympics, cooking, lizard lady, reptile shows, magic shows, chapel, pizza Wednesdays, yoga, library time, etc.

Outreach Projects

One of the goals of H.E.R.O.E.S. Camp is to teach children to help those in need as Jesus would want us to. To accomplish this goal, we give campers the option to bring in inexpensive items weekly to help those in need. Representative from local organizations also speak to campers about how they help others. The weekly outreach projects are:

Week 1:           Caridad Center – Canned Goods
Week 2:           UM Children’s Home – School Supplies
Week 3:           Heath Evans Shelter – Change
Week 4:           C.R.O.S. Ministries – School Supplies
Week 5:           Haitian Ministry – Hygiene Products
Week 6:           Caring Kitchen – Canned Goods
Week 7:           Caridad Center – School Supplies
Week 8:           Home on the Range – Hygiene Products

We also participate in Project Linus every Friday. This is an organization that makes blankets for sick, traumatized children. For more information on this outreach see their website at

Camp
Hours
The camp runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. There is a half-day option (8:30am-1:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm) for 3- and 4-year-olds thru completed kindergarten. For an extra charge, Early Care (7:30am-8:30am) and After Care (4:30pm-5:30pm) are available.

Schedule of Fees

A non-refundable $75 per child enrollment fee is due with the registration form. Space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment in full for all weeks student will be attending camp is due by May 25, 2010. Checks are made payable to Faith United Methodist Church.

Full Day          8:30am-4:30pm – $150 per week

Half Day         8:30-1:00 or 1:00pm-4:00pm – $85 per week
(Half-day option available for preschoolers and thru completed Kindergarten)

Early Care       7:30am-8:30am – $5 per day

After Care       4:30pm-5:30pm – $5 per day
(Provided on a weekly basis only)

Lunch and Snacks

Full-day students should bring both a snack and lunch. Half-day students should bring a snack.

Absentee Policy

We regret that days (or parts thereof) missed due to absence cannot be made up in a different week.

Arrival & Dismissal Policy

Campers dropped off earlier than 8:30am will be sent to Early Care, and a fee will be assessed. Any camper not picked up by 4:30pm will be sent to After Care, and a fee will be assessed. ALL CAMPERS MUST PROVIDE A CREDIT CARD NUMBER AS A DEPOSIT FOR THESE EXPENSES. If parents carpool, we require a list of drivers and riders. No child will be permitted to leave camp without a parent or regular carpool. If a change in plans occurs, please send a note with your child.

Cancellation Policy

Camp reservations cancelled at least 14 days prior to each session will receive a full refund (not including enrollment fee). Less than 14 days, no refunds will be given; however, tuition may be applied to another session of camp, subject to availability.
